Hair

Panthenol, also known as provitamin B5, is the alcohol form of vitamin B5. When skin care products containing provitamin B5 are absorbed by the skin, the provitamin is converted into vitamin B5 (pantothenic acid), which has a good ability to moisturize, soothe, repair and revitalize the skin.

PANTHENOL IN SKIN CARE

Panthenol is best known for its ability to act as a humectant that attracts and retains moisture in the skin. Provitamin B5 stabilizes the skin's barrier function, which reduces the amount of water lost through the skin. This in turn improves skin texture and elasticity, making panthenol ideal for treating dry, scaly or rough skin. A mature skin is perceived as smoother and more flexible. In addition to its moisturizing and softening properties, panthenol also helps the skin to defend itself against external stresses. When applied, panthenol reduces itching, redness and reduces inflammation. Thanks to its soothing and repairing properties, panthenol also has a good effect on inflamed acne and on skin that has recently undergone a clinical treatment, for example chemical peeling. Eczema is also relieved and sunburned skin is helped by products with panthenol, as the ingredient accelerates healing in the skin.

PANTHENOL IN HAIR CARE

The hair consists to a certain extent of panthenol, which makes it easier for the ingredient to penetrate deep into its so-called cortex, causing the hair to swell slightly and thus create more volume. Just like in the skin, panthenol is converted to provitamin B5 in the hair, which keeps it hydrated for longer. It also forms a film of moisture on the hair shaft, which gives the hair extra protection. Panthenol thus has an ability to regulate the moisture content and at the same time increase the hair's resistance to damage and dehydration. Thanks to its moisturizing effect, panthenol can also give more shine to the hair and counteract frizz.

PANTHENOL IN NAIL CARE

Studies have shown that panthenol works in symbiosis with keratin, a main component of our skin and nails. It has the ability to penetrate the nail to moisturise, soften and protect - perfect for damaged, dry and brittle nails.
