Vegetable oils come from the plant kingdom and have been used throughout the ages in skin care. They are made up of, among other things, fatty acids, vitamins, phytosterols, polyphenols, squalane and lecithin. These components contribute with, among other things, antioxidants, they help the skin retain moisture, stimulate the cells' energy turnover and build up the cell membranes.
Mineral oils are produced industrially from rock oil. They contain no nutrients and are not absorbed by the skin, but settle like a film on the skin. Mainly used to protect the skin from moisture evaporation, especially for skin with a damaged barrier function such as eczema.
WHICH OIL IS SUITABLE FOR ME?
The choice of oil is governed by skin type, needs and conditions. A mixture of oils with different fatty acid composition gives different benefits to the skin, so body and face creams are often made up of several different types. Always take into account the total composition of a product, which can affect the final effect.
